To support its mission, the College brings together university and community partners through its Interprofessional Education Curriculum, Practice Education and Professional Development Committees. These three committees address interprofessional education along the continuum of learning, which starts with pre-licensure, university-based education; includes practice-based education that occurs during placements; and is maintained through continuing professional development. Collectively, the committees form the Division of Interprofessional Education, Practice and Research, whose aim is to:
-
Promote interprofessional education for collaborative patient-centred care
-
Foster a coordinated approach to interprofessional teaching, curriculum development and renewal
-
Facilitate knowledge production, exchange and application in interprofessional education and collaborative practice
-
Foster strategic partnerships and facilitate innovative opportunities that enable interprofessional collaboration in education, practice, and research
-
Foster student champions and student-led interprofessional
Committee initiatives include coordination of the Health Care Team Challenge™, the administration of awards to recognize leaders in interprofessional collaboration, interprofessional teaching and learning resources and the Interprofessional Education Passport.
