Purpose:
The mandate of the Interprofessional Education Curriculum Committee (IPECC) is to contribute to the advancement of Interprofessional Education (IPE) at UBC so that health and human service (HHS) graduates are competent to provide collaborative patient-centered care that will improve patient outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Education

To offer support and be a resource to HHS programs at UBC in IPE curriculum development

To design, implement, and evaluate a plan that will educate HHS graduates who are competent to provide collaborative patient-centered care.

To assist in the development of interprofessional educational learning objectives reflective of the National Competency Framework for Collaborative Practice;

To assist the HHS programs in identifying opportunities for interprofessional education.

To develop a plan for ensuring that HHS programs can meet IPE accreditation standards.

To provide input to IHHS course planning and evaluation.
Research

To facilitate and promote curriculum-related research to advance knowledge in the area of IPE/IPC.
Advocacy
-
To promote interprofessional educational initiatives or collaborative practice opportunities occurring within HHS programs by fostering biliateral communication between the programs and the IPECC.

To be a catalyst for change; advocating for collaborative-patient centred care as an important strategy in addressing emergent health care issues.
Composition and Organization:

The College of Health Disciplines’ Director of Interprofessional Education Curriculum will chair the committee.

The membership of the IPECC is open to individuals from all UBC Health and Human Service (HHS) programs with a keen interest in advancing IPE, and a desire to inform their own programs about new IPE opportunities and initiatives.

The membership of the committee will also include the following CHD members: Curriculum Coordinator, Project Research Coordinator, Administrator, and the Program Assistant; as well as a Reference Librarian, a representative from the HSSA student organization, and a student from the CHD Interprofessional Student Advisory Group.

Meetings are scheduled monthly, or called at the discretion of the Chair.
